Turkish Language and Literature:

We raise all students who use Turkish effectively, who know how to use turkish effectively, who know how to use their mother tongue in a creative, sophisticated and learning-lover way. We want students who are proud of themselves, who respect their culture, history and their creativity. We want them to use punctiation marks correctly and to be able to use them in their daily life.

The Turkish Philology and Language Expression lessons are learnt in two different programs. The Florya College Turkish Philology Department's teachers know that language is unseperable piece of life. This is why Turkish Philology lessons are taught with a strong bond together.

Our Learning Policy and Teaching Methods:

1. In our Turkish Philology Programme we make sure that the student learns by using the knowledge given which is our main priority.
2. Teaching the cultural and historical litearture in a way they can understand.
3. Making sure that students learn about cultural history and arts.
4. To be able to link literature of phrases with their meaning, language and when they were written.
5. To be able to show how our literature phrases have continued to be with us throughout the years.
6. Let them know how Turkish has developed over the years.
7. To show how our culture and daily life has reflected onto our literature
8. To know that Turkish as a very important place in our country.
9. To develop the talent of creating new things.
10. To develop the love of reading.
11. Developing the talents of learning, searching, balancing and summarising knowledge.
12. Developing the students love of arts.
13. Improving the art of banking knowledge.
14. To teach the connection between language and literature.
15. To teach the link between different lessons.
16. To make sure the students understand the Turkish lifestyle and Turkish literature have grown side by side through time.
17. To teach the link between Turkish literature and the Turkish culture along with its history.
18. Showing the knowledge of the increase  and growth of literature and show how much it has changed over the years.
19. Showing that the Turkish culture is linked with literature, and how both culture and literature have changed over the past.
20. To make sure the Turkish students actually learn facts, and have the ability to summarise them.
21. With artistic literature as an important we expect Turkish students to be able to know which subjects they are fond of, and create a link between literature and their favourite topics together.
22. To show that every job done by a human, or everyday common activity we do has a place in literature. We make sure that students understand this in a nice way.
23. Making sure the students can summarise and talk about Turkey's past in their own way.

 

Our students should be able to do these parts of Philology in a sensible way. Every term, our students read at least three books, answer all questions asked in an exam and develop on their understanding, assimilation and commenting abilities.

History and Turkish Revolution History

The aim of the lesson is to raise people who naturalised norms and reforms of Ataturk, who has beared possessive feelings towards their population and country, and who can judge.

Our Learning Policy and Teaching Methods:

1. Making people sync together by improving their approaching and skills that they could use in problems they may come across.
2. Understanding Ataturk's norms and reforms and ensuring the idea of protecting these.
3. Showing the effect that science and technics make on people’s lives when they improve for the beter.
4. Making people understand reason-conclusion and judgemental thoughts, and teaching Permanent and Active Teaching from a different point of view.
5. Using the most historical place in our country, Istanbul, with the intention of having our students learn by seeing and touching.
6. We learn our subjects by seeing and living. With Ottoman Empire’s Emirgan Woods, Topkapı, Dolmabahçe, Beylerbeyi Castles, we bring back our Independence War by visiting Çanakkale, Edirne etc. with our cultural trips.
7. We rememeber our social responsibilities by visiting retirement homes and society for the protection of children.
8. We know that history is not only a school book but a living style, an original value and because of that we talk to old people about history. We make local and verbal history projects and present them.
9. We subscribe to historical magazines and read the articles in our classes, and we provide staying actual. Let’s explore our own personality, our history, and let’s not forget that a person who doesn’t know his history, is the exact same thing as a person who has lost his mind!

The aim of the lesson is to gain the skills of judging geographic relationship between human – nature and raise people who can comment on the main necessity and the conclusions by comprehending all the actions of the most important element in lives, HUMANS.

Thanks to this, our students;

1. Provide consciousness for taking care of the places (the ones that the nature and people generate and save) our country and the world, starting from the neighborhood.
2. Develop new implementations to protect and take precaution by evaluating natural disasters and environmental problems.
3.  Comprehend that different cultures take place in various places and that this provokes cultural, political and economical situations, effecting nations and worldwide.
4. Learn Geography lessons according to examples, organise school trips and create projects to increase the quality of education.

Philosophy

4. We know that philosophy is as important as art and science for modern societies. Thus, we teach not for marks but for information, in the technological classes. We also think that, philosophy is not only an abstract acquisition but also a key to open the doors of the student’s cultural development. We internalize democracy an human rights by questioning people, universe, life and existance. We get to the heart of existance with the question “What?”.

Education of Religion and Ethics

We aim for the students to acquire enough bedrock with the moral value of today and religions which cooperate with Ataturk’s secularism norm. We also aim to create a way of raising kind and responsible people regarding to the Turkish curricular education policy and Ataturk’s love of people. According to this, people who are trustworthy, clever, kind and helpful have been born. This is the priority.
